Arty Beginnings
Dragonflies and Grasshoppers are excited to be taking part in our very first ‘Arty Beginnings’ project! The children will be embarking on a journey of exploration, discovery and interaction whilst developing language related to art, creative and critical thinking skills, dexterity and confidence. Working in collaboration with the Leeds Art Gallery’s Amanda Phillips we will introduce the children to ‘Helios’ (1990) by Gillian Ayres. We have developed a plan to explore this piece of art over the coming weeks which we hope will facilitate an ‘art conversation’ with the Gallery and that you will get involved too!
Week One, which starts on Tuesday 20th April and carries on throughout that week, will involve introducing the children to the artwork which will be displayed in their play spaces. Children will be encouraged to describe what they see or feel when they look at the picture and observed to see how they interact with the piece. Each week we will post a brief overview of the plan for that week and what you can do to help at home. See ‘Our Journey’ below to see our weekly progress!
