World Book Day 2020

World Book Day & Pyjamarama

We will be celebrating by encouraging children to bring in their favourite stories and inviting them to dress up in pyjamas from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th March to show our support for the BookTrust’s Pyjamarama campaign, which is aimed at encouraging children and parents to spend more time enjoying bedtime stories together.

For more information, take a look at their website: https://www.booktrust.org.uk/what-we-do/programmes-and-campaigns/pyjamarama/

We also have £1 Book Tokens available! We will be handing these out at reception From Thursday 27th February. They can be redeemed at participating book stores for a £1 book from this year’s selection and are valid until Friday 29th March. One token per child only.

 Share a Million Stories

We are really excited to be participating in Share a Million Stories, a campaign run by the team behind World Book Day to spread the love of books and reading for pleasure. We are going to be asking our families to help us by counting the books they read at home as a family throughout the month of March and adding them to our Centre-wide total. Our total will then be shared with the Share a Million Stories team, who will add it to the national total!

Share a Million Stories kicks off on Thursday 27th February. We will be handing our reading records at reception for you to record all the lovely stories you’ve been reading as a family. These can be filled in weekly at home and returned to reception for Friday 28th March so we can celebrate our final total! There will be stickers and bookmarks available for children who take part!

For more information about Share a Million Stories, see their website! https://www.worldbookday.com/share-a-million-stories/. There is no need to register individually as the Centre is registered, but feel free to do so if you would like to participate as a family at home!
