Baines Wing Visit
Our first groups of children had a lovely time at the University of Leeds’ School of Healthcare’s simulated ward this morning! It was a fantastic opportunity for them to see what a real hospital looks like, as well as test out some common medical equipment for themselves and learn about the different kinds of tests that might be performed on a hospital patient.
The children also gained experience in holding babies, experience that will be invaluable for those who have baby siblings or cousins etc. at home or on the way!
For some children, this was their first conscious experience of being in a hospital ward, and we hope that their positive experience spending time with the School of Healthcare’s student nurses will make hospitals less scary should they ever need to spend time on a hospital ward in the future.
Our next groups of children will visit the Baines Wing on Friday.
