Our Journey to Inclusion shared at Early Years Conference Autumn 2025
Last Friday, we were invited by the Leeds Early Years Team to present at the regional Early Years Conference, where we showcased Our Journey towards Inclusive Practice.
We presented alongside Professor Julie Fisher, a Visiting Professor of Early Childhood Education at Oxford Brookes University and a passionate advocate for the right of young children to learn in environments that cherish their individuality and enhance their innate competence. It was a great honour to be recognised by the Local Authority and invited to share best practice with other educational settings.
Our Journey to Inclusion Presentation

The presentation explored how practitioners can create environments that celebrate individuality while ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities for all children. We included practical examples of adapting activities to respect cultural backgrounds, alongside approaches that challenge bias and promote fairness. Strategies such as using diverse resources, fostering positive representation, and encouraging collaborative play were highlighted to demonstrate how inclusion goes beyond participation—it actively nurtures a sense of belonging and respect. The aim was to empower practitioners to embed equality and diversity into everyday practice, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.
