Breakfast by the Fire: A Preschool Adventure

Today our preschoolers enjoyed a wonderful outdoor breakfast experience, toasting their own bread over the fire in the garden.
This hands-on activity supported a wide range of EYFS learning, including developing an understanding of fire safety as children practised listening carefully and respecting boundaries around the fire. They showed growing independence as they took responsibility for preparing their own food, building confidence in their abilities. The experience also encouraged strong social development, with children working collaboratively, taking turns, and sharing the moment together. By cooking outdoors, we were also helping to widen their cultural capital, giving them meaningful, real-life experiences that connect them to traditional ways of preparing food and the natural environment.
It was a fantastic morning full of curiosity, teamwork and new skills!
