Thank you so much to Amanda Phillips for having our team at Leeds Art Gallery on Friday! Our training session was eye-opening, challenging our staff’s perceptions of what is considered art and what ‘artists’ look like. We also considered how our own view of art influences the way we promote and encourage interest in art among our children, and this compounded the importance of using their imaginations to lead artistic exploration.

Through a variety of exercises, Amanda helped us to consider exciting, thoughtful, creative ways of unlocking the artistic potential inside all of our children using both traditional mediums of art and exploring other formats, including using every day and found materials.

Our team excited to take what we have learned and apply it within the Centre, particularly once we have selected our new works of art from the Picture Library!
